In a private cinema, seating is not an afterthought — it is an acoustic element, an ergonomic system, and the interface between viewer and experience. The wrong seating undermines every other investment in the room.

Riser Design & Sight Lines For multi-row cinemas, riser height is critical. Each row must be elevated enough that the viewer's sight line clears the head of the person in front. We calculate riser heights using the "clear line of sight" method — ensuring an unobstructed view of the full screen from every seat, including the bottom 10% where subtitles appear.

Acoustic Impact Seats absorb sound — and the amount of absorption changes dramatically between an empty leather recliner and one with a person in it. This variability affects the room's reverberation characteristics. We account for seating absorption in our acoustic models, using absorption coefficients for both occupied and unoccupied states to ensure consistent sound quality regardless of audience size.

Ergonomics for Extended Viewing A cinema session can last three hours or more. Seat ergonomics must support this: lumbar support that maintains spinal alignment, headrests positioned for both upright and reclined viewing, and armrests at the correct height to avoid shoulder tension. Premium motorised recliners allow micro-adjustments without disturbing other viewers.

Haptic & Tactile Feedback For the ultimate immersive experience, we integrate bass shakers (tactile transducers) into the seating platform. These devices reproduce low-frequency effects as physical vibration — you feel the rumble of an earthquake, the impact of an explosion, the thump of a bass drum. Properly calibrated, haptics add a visceral dimension that even the best subwoofers cannot achieve alone.

Material Selection Italian Napa leather remains the gold standard for cinema seating — it is durable, easy to clean, and develops a beautiful patina over time. For warmer climates, we may recommend perforated leather with climate control (heating and cooling) built into the seat. Fabric options are available for audiophile-grade rooms where leather's reflective properties are a concern.
